Highlanders to face FC Platinum in NetOne Cup

Highlanders have what appears to be a tough challenge in the NetOne EasyCall Cup quarterfinals after being paired with FC Platinum.

Dynamos will face How Mine while Caps United will face Hwange in what could be tricky fixtures for the giants.

On-fire Chicken Inn will tackle ZPC Kariba. It is however the Highlanders-FC Platinum match that is the pick of this knockout tournament contested for by teams that finished in the PSL top-eight last season.

Defending champions Triangle will not take part after ending last season on position nine.

The quarter-finals will kick off on the weekend of 14-15 November while the semifinals will be played on 5-6 December with the final coming up the following weekend.

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza welcomed the draw, saying they were expecting to be paired with any team.

“In football you should be ready to play against any team. We have no problem with facing Highlanders,” Mapeza said.

“Before this draw, we were expecting to play any team and that is the mentality needed in football. We will give it our best and try to reach the final. God knows our destiny and we hope everything goes on well for us. We respect Highlanders though.”

Dynamos lost in last season’s final to Triangle.
