Kutyauripo excited about Africa qualification

HARARE City captain David Kutyauripo is excited about taking part in next year’s Caf Confederations Cup after the Harare side lifted the Chibuku Super Cup last Saturday by beating Dynamos 2-1 in the final.

Franscisco Zekumbawire and William Manondo scored for City while Richard Kawondera was on target for Dynamos. The result handed City the ticket to represent Zimbabwe in next season’s CAF Confederations Cup.

Kutyauripo, a veteran of many international games that include a dance with Dynamos in the Caf Champions League and featuring prominently in the 2008 Afcon and 2010 World Cup qualifiers under former Warriors coach Valinhos, believes they have what it takes to launch a formidable challenge in the Confederations Cup.

“Playing in the Confederations Cup was what we were targeting. That was what we wanted and I am glad we achieved just that,” Kutyauripo said.

“Everything went well according to plan. We now just have to start preparing for this continental competition early so that we get into it a strong unit. I am very happy we achieved this and everyone in the team is equally excited. It was teamwork that got us through.”

By winning the Chibuku Super Cup, City atoned for last season where they lost in the final of the same competition to FC Platinum under controversial circumstances.
